Intelligence units, pages and plans in BrainBox: what your AI uses, with no surprises

What an intelligence unit is, how much a question uses, how it changes by model, when units renew and how to control and measure your team's usage.

Lesson 21 of 21 · 2:54

What it covers

Intelligence units are BrainBox's currency: a simple question uses about one, and the most powerful models use more. They renew every month with your billing cycle, you can buy extra units that don't expire and set a limit for each person. So you always know how much you use, with no surprises, and you can measure the return of AI on your team.

Frequently asked questions

›How many units does a question use?

Many simple questions use one unit. Complex tasks, long documents or web search can use several, and the most powerful models use more per question.

›When do units renew?

Every month, with your plan's billing period. The next date appears in Plans & Licenses.

›What happens if I run out of units?

You can buy extra units in a one-time payment. They don't expire when the plan resets each month.

›Are 100,000 pages a month enough?

For the vast majority of teams, more than enough. It's a control limit: if your team needs to index more in a month, your account manager will help.

0:00The doubt

Andrés has the question everyone asks: how much does each question use, and what happens if we run out of AI mid-month? The answer will put you at ease.

0:12How much a question uses

Think of intelligence units like the data on your phone plan. A simple question, with Auto, uses about one unit. A long report, with many documents, uses several. And if the AI goes searching the web, a few more. The model counts too: light ones use it once, medium ones, twice, powerful ones, five to eight times, and premium ones, up to twenty. That's why Auto is such a good idea: it picks the most efficient one for each question. In the model picker you see it before you ask. Auto chooses for you. And each model has its label: green, low usage; orange, high; red, premium.

0:57Why units

And why units, and not unlimited? Because units give you clarity. No surprises: you know what you have and what you've used, and you never get an unexpected bill. Control: you set a limit for each person, if you want. And return: you see who uses AI, how much and for what, to measure the value your team gets from it. In Usage you see the team's consumption: actions, units, pages and storage. In By User, who uses AI and how much: the basis for measuring the return. And in Plans and Licenses, how much of each limit you've used, with its bar. Want a cap per person? In Members, AI access. You see how many units they've used this period, which resets with your billing, and you set their limit. Empty means no limit.

1:57Renewal, extras and pages

And three more things that give peace of mind. Units renew every month, with your billing cycle; you see the next date in your plan. If one month you need more, you buy extra units, in a one-time payment, and they don't expire when the plan resets. And pages: there are a hundred thousand a month. More than enough for almost any team; it's a control limit, and if you ever go over it, your account manager will help.

2:26Recap

To recap: a simple question uses about one unit, the model changes the usage, and Auto picks the most efficient one, and units renew every month, with extras if you need them and per-person limits if you want them. Andrés has nothing to worry about. What gets measured gets improved.
