The Assistant, a Box chat or a connection: where to ask in BrainBox
When to ask in a Box's chat and when in the Assistant, which can read several Boxes at once.
Lesson 9 of 21 · 1:36
What it covers
BrainBox has two ways to talk: a Box's chat, to work one topic in depth, and the workspace Assistant, for questions that cross several Boxes. In the Assistant you mark the Boxes you want and ask once; the answer cites which Box each fact comes from, and if something isn't there, it tells you.
Frequently asked questions
›What's the difference between the Assistant and a Box's chat?
A Box's chat works with that topic's documents. The Assistant is in the workspace menu and can read the Boxes you mark on the left, for questions that cross topics.
›When do I connect a Box and when do I use the Assistant?
Connect a Box when you're working one topic and need a fact from another: you stay in your Box, with your chats. Use the Assistant when you need an overview of several topics at once.
›What happens if the information isn't in my documents?
BrainBox tells you instead of making it up, and shows you the closest thing it did find, with its citation.

0:00Monday morning
Monday morning. Laura wants to know which dates are coming up, across the tender and the contracts. That isn't in a single Box. That's what the Assistant is for.
0:12Box, connection or Assistant?
Where should you ask? It depends on what you need. If you're working one topic in depth, like the tender, stay in its Box's chat. If you need a fact from another topic, like a supplier's contract, connect that Box, or just the folder you need, and stay in your Box. And if you need an overview of several topics, like the dates for the whole week, go to the Assistant.
0:36The Assistant
The Assistant is in the workspace menu. It helps you create, explore, code or learn. On the left are your Boxes: mark the ones you want it to read. Here, files from two Boxes. Ask Laura's question. Look how honest it is: the Shortroute agreement expires on October thirty-first. There are no tender deadlines this week, and it tells you those dates have passed. And it gives you the next one to plan for: Ferrolumina's agreement, through January thirty-first. Each one with its citation, from whichever Box.
1:13Recap
To recap: for one topic, its Box's chat. If you need a fact from another topic, connect that Box. And for an overview of several topics, the Assistant. Laura's week is clear. If it's not in your documents, it won't make it up.
